flocks of flakes.

Today is 6.16.02, the time is 5:56 p.m.

The seeds were scattering on the 300 block of West Gilman all this past week. It looked like a mid-June snow shower, with a blanket of seed and white fluff covering the ground.

Today, the snowing stopped. The grass is green.

Today was long. I came in to work at 8am, left at 3:45. This may not sound that long to you seasoned full-timers, but Ellie and I agreed, by 1pm, 8:30 felt like yesterday. I was managing, which means that I get to do 3 things at once for the entire day, and stay smiling for the customers.

Near the end of my shift, the waitstaff and I were reminiscing about our varying degrees of interest in NKOTB while growing up. One girl told me that she liked Jordan the best. Then I belted out his song that was popular a few years ago Other guys can make you sweat, but only I can make you wet. I got pretty loud, and upon realizing that I had pretty much shouted I can make you wet across the restaurant I was supposedly in charge of, I immediately recoiled in exaggerated embarrassment.

Yup.

Last night The Appleseed Cast and Mates of State played at the Terrace. Prior to that I was at work. Sneaking wine in water glasses. It didn't improve my mood. Customers actually said, Smile for me, will ya? My mood finally changed while watching Appleseed Cast. Now, while they are not very original, they rocked me thoroughly. Adding to my amusement were a group of girls dressed in silly costumes dancing in the background, a bouy that bounced to the beat on the water behind the stage, and the sheer number of hipsters in my immediate surroundings, you know, acting too cool to be there. Mates of State sounded okay, but I got rather bored. They were like Quasi without the sad irony or Rainer Maria without the anger. It did offer up the opportunity to chat with some homies though.

I took Cleo on a brief walking tour of Madison a little bit ago. She just got really tired, lying down, in fact, at several points during the walk. I guess 2 miles is a pretty long way for her.
