celebration
Today is 6.29.02, the time is 12:11 p.m.
Reasons why last night was a good night.- I made $70 on a night that wasn't all that busy.
- One of my tables of two left me 4 firecrackers with their $5 tip. That's sweet.
- The cook was blasting Dr. Dre in the kitchen and turned up the classic I Just Wanna Fuck You after I told him it was the best song. Later, two girls came up to pay and they started giggling when they heard that Dr. Dre was on--we decided that no college-aged kids could escape loving the west coast style. Furthermore, the kitchen became the site of a behind-the-scenes dance party.
- I got home from work to discover that we had friends over, with rice krispie treats ready to eat and Built to Spill on the hifi. Then we watched a Danish movie (called Celebration, I think), which was dang good. On a side note, my parents are currently in Denmark right now, and will soon be returning home.
- Frank did quite a bit of cleaning in our apartment, which I totally appreciate because it really was probably my work to do. What a sweetheart.
Who would have thought that I would actually enjoy a day that I worked for 11 hours straight between my two jobs?
Anyway, tonight is Rhythm and Booms--fireworks set to music at Warner Park. In keeping with tradition, I will be working while the display begins. Last year, I was patrolling the halls of the Children's Ward at Mendota instead of watching what is reputed to be quite a fireworks display. The only thing I got out of it was a tremendous traffic delay on my way home from work. However, this year, I think I will go over to the Union and watch them from the Terrace, and I will not have had to come off of a day of putting kids in seclusion and setting their door alarms.
