thoughts saved for/from a rainy day

Today is 6.4.02, the time is 2:01 p.m.

When I woke up, it looked like dusk. It's a shame that I hate to leave my house when it's raining, though. Colors look so pretty, the rain makes the green of the plants, and the red of my front steps look much more saturated, vivid. I wonder if it is the wetness or the contrast with the grey sky that makes colors so much brighter.

I had a strange exchange with a man of about 35 a few minutes ago at Espresso Royale:
Man: Hey, so what's new in the paper.
Me: (looking up) Nothing much.
Man: Nothing Much?
Me: Yup.
Man: (hand shaking uncontrollably) Would you like a caramel?
Me: No thanks.
Man: No thanks, huh. (walks away).
Now, I wonder if it was me or my newspaper he was after. Maybe he realized that we're both uneventful. Or maybe he realize that we were both way too young for him.

In other news, I penned a children's book for Little Katie yesterday, and spent about 3 hours on an 8-page, 8-sentance story, Opposite Day! I am worried that this book might have been a bad idea, because there are sentances like Mom is a man. and Dad is a woman. Even though, their real gender (if there is such a thing) is hidden under a little flap, I could see this leading to much confusion, and worse yet, some aggravated parents. Katie has this problem with parroting and perseverating, which means she could say, Dad is a woman for days and never tire of it. Well, at least I think this book will make her laugh.

On a final note, I love mushroom barley soup. Yummy.
